Pharmacy Technician Higher Level: Clinical Trials
Band 5
The successful candidate will support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials service, ensuring efficient dispensing, compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and maintaining technical checking of prescriptions as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician.
Main duties of the job
* Contribute to the provision of a dispensing service for clinical trial patients, ensuring that the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) are applied.
* Under the general direction of the Principal Pharmacist and Senior Pharmacy Technician, undertake the day‑to‑day management of the pharmacy clinical trials service ensuring an efficient and timely service to all users.
* Undertake technical checking of prescriptions as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician and maintain competences and accreditation in this area.
Person specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician clinical (ACPT) or working towards that qualification.
* Other health or pharmaceutical qualifications such as NVQ Assessor.
* GCP training.
Experience
* Recent experience in Hospital Pharmacy.
* Recent experience in hospital Pharmacy Clinical Trials services.
* Recent experience in hospital Pharmacy Aseptic Services.
* Supervisory experience.
Skills and Attributes
* Demonstrable commitment to CPD.
* Good organisational skills.
* Ability to use own initiative.
Other
* Able to work flexibly according to the needs of the department.
* Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards that level.
