Shift Pattern
2 × 7am‑7pm and 2 × 7pm‑7am – 4 off repeated
Responsibilities
* Undertake regular foot patrols throughout George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, especially within the Accident and Emergency Department.
* Deter criminal activity against Trust property, staff, patients, and visitors.
* Reassure staff, patients, and visitors of a visible security presence.
* Detect, resolve, and report security breaches such as insecure buildings or departments.
* Detect, resolve, and report Health and Safety hazards.
* Detect, resolve, and report fire hazards (e.g., blocked fire exits or escape routes).
* Provide routing assistance and guidance to patients and visitors.
* Enforce all Trust policies and procedures.
Emergency Response
* Respond to incidents on Trust premises to protect staff, patients, and visitors from acts of violence or aggression.
* Assist police and prison services with violent prisoners on hospital premises.
* Address assaults on staff and conflicts between patients and visitors.
Good Order and Portering Duties
* Protect patients, staff, contractors, and visitors against violent acts and abuse.
* Protect Trust property against loss, theft, damage, and waste.
* Safeguard property belonging to patients, staff, visitors, and contractors.
* Provide routine and emergency portering duties when requested by the LSMS and Team Leaders.
