Job Summary
Based in our facilities in East Cowes, the Operational Buyer (indirect) will join a small, close-knit team responsible for purchasing and supplying all products and services not directly related to manufacturing programs (i.e., anything required to keep our facilities operational daily). They will manage order processing of in-contract scheduling, supplier delivery performance aligned with MPS and business needs, and will meet supplier and business performance objectives focused on procured parts delivery.
This role requires strong interpersonal and resource management skills to achieve project objectives, including change management, sourcing decisions, cost reduction, transfers of products/services/suppliers, contract negotiation, and placement.
Job Responsibilities
* Supplier sourcing and development strategy alignment with group commodity strategy;
* Managing relationships with key suppliers;
* RFQ process for program supplier selection;
* Negotiating prices and terms with suppliers;
* Placing purchase orders to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives;
* Handling change control, export control, and ITAR compliance;
* Maintaining supplier data;
* Identifying and investigating cost reduction opportunities;
* Supporting capital and operational expenditure projects;
* Creating indirect NDAs;
* Drafting and negotiating contracts for site-specific projects;
* Managing supplier risk (including financial risk assessment);
* Processing ePOR requests;
* Resolving invoice queries;
* Escalating contractual issues with suppliers.
Job Qualifications
* Experience in procurement or supply chain management;
* Knowledge of industry best practices;
* Negotiation skills and contract management experience;
* Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation);
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
* Ability to interface professionally with customers and suppliers at all levels;
* Relationship management skills;
* Data analysis capabilities;
* Decision-making skills;
* Influencing and persuading abilities;
* Commercial acumen;
* Change management experience;
* Risk management skills;
* Eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
