A leading engineering organisation is seeking a talented Electronic Systems Engineer to play a key role in the design and integration of complex electronic systems. They work on a Hybrid basis, with 2-3 days per week onsite, at either their Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton offices.
The Role
As an Electronic Systems Engineer, you will take ownership of system-level design and integration, translating high-level requirements into robust, fully integrated hardware solutions.
You'll be responsible for defining system architectures, breaking down complex equipment into subsystems, and ensuring seamless connectivity across interfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead system-level electronic design from concept through to deployment
Define system architectures, interfaces, and interconnects
Produce high-quality technical documentation, including:
System schematics
Wiring diagrams
Interface control documentation
Block diagrams
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing)
Support system integration, validation, and acceptance testing
Conduct root cause analysis and resolve system-level issues
Ensure compliance with relevant safety, EMC, and regulatory standards
About You
We're looking for a systems-oriented engineer who thrives in complex environments and enjoys solving challenging integration problems.
Essential:
Degree-qualified in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
Strong experience in system-level electronic design and integration
Proven ability to define system architectures and equipment breakdowns
Solid understanding of analogue and digital electronics
Experience producing technical documentation and system diagrams
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Familiarity with systems design tools (e.g. DOORS, Rhapsody, MATLAB/Simulink)Desirable:
Experience with power distribution and grounding strategies
Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I²C, UART)
Understanding of EMC/EMI mitigation
Background in regulated industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive, rail, or medical
Experience with SPICE simulation tools
