Join the team at Lakefields Neurological Centre in Chigwell as a Therapy Assistant. You will work alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, SALT and Dietitians to assist and deliver planned therapy programmes that support, develop and/or restore service users’ level of functioning – mobility, self-care, productivity, leisure and everyday activities. You will report to qualified Therapists, support service users on their recovery journey and prepare and assist with individual and group therapeutic activities.
Responsibilities
* Undertake basic procedures as instructed by a qualified therapist, respecting the client’s privacy, dignity and cultural beliefs.
* Report any change in a service user’s condition, circumstances or response to treatment promptly.
* Maintain effective communication within the team and with clients, visitors and colleagues.
* Ensure written/computerised documentation is accurate and complete.
* Handle and exchange information with care and sensitivity, maintaining clinical confidentiality at all times.
* Attend in‑service training and development to learn techniques required to support senior colleagues.
* Assist with ensuring a safe environment.
* Commit to helping individuals regain their maximum independence.
* Comply with legislative procedures, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire and Manual Handling.
* Comply with Elysium policies and procedures.
* Participate in the evaluation of service provisions and activities, ensuring all sessions are observed, reported and recorded.
* Under supervision, make necessary adjustments to service users’ plans according to changing needs and abilities.
Qualifications
* GNVQ Level 3 or willingness to undertake training.
* Experience working in a care and/or therapy environment.
* Demonstrated ability to complete in‑service training and development programmes.
* Ability to understand and follow instructions accurately and learn new skills quickly.
* Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and the implications of non‑compliance.
