Closing Date: 12 April 2026 Newcastle University is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Technology Operations to lead the delivery and continual improvement of the University’s core IT systems and platforms. Reporting to the Director of NUIT, this senior leadership role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of technology services — from planning and design through to implementation, support and retirement — ensuring that services are resilient, secure, cost-effective and aligned with the University’s strategic ambitions. You will shape a service-centric, product focused operating model that supports world class research, education and sustainable growth. Working closely with senior IT leaders, including the CTO, Director of Service Delivery and CISO, you will provide strategic leadership to Technology Operations and act as a trusted advisor across the University. You will lead the development of the Technology Operations strategy and roadmap, oversee service management maturity, and ensure that governance, financial management and resource planning deliver measurable value. The role will play a key part in enabling major institutional transformation programmes, including new enterprise systems, digital services and significant investment in cyber security and infrastructure. We are looking for a proven IT leader with experience of managing large, complex technology operations within a dynamic organisation. You will bring strong strategic planning capability, expertise in service management and technology transformation, and the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
