The Northern Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Nuclear Medicine Radiographer to join our dedicated Radiology team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled professional to contribute to a high‑performing diagnostic service, delivering safe, effective and compassionate care across the Trust.
Job Summary
The post holder will undertake a full range of Nuclear Medicine duties, including radionuclide imaging, preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, data analysis, and clinical image reporting preparation.
You will also participate in:
1. Extended working days
2. Out‑of‑hours sessions, including General X‑ray rotation and general on‑call
3. Flexible working patterns to meet service needs
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Technical Duties
4. Perform radionuclide imaging, organ uptake measurements and quantitative analysis of image data.
5. Prepare image data for clinical reporting and ensure secure archival in line with departmental protocols.
6. Prepare, dispense and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
7. Follow all Nuclear Medicine examination protocols, Local Rules, IR(ME)R 2018 NI and radiation protection guidelines.
8. Maintain high standards of patient care, ensuring dignity, confidentiality and optimal radiation safety at all times.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
9. Ensure compliance with: Health & Safety at Work Order 1978 Fire Safety regulations COSHH Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 Departmental quality standards SoR & HCPC professional conduct codes Trust Infection Prevention & Control Protocols
10. Monitor and report equipment faults or safety concerns promptly.
Leadership, Training & Development
11. Lead by example, promoting high standards of work and professionalism.
12. Support and mentor junior staff and students, assisting with training as needed.
13. Contribute to departmental research and development, including evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
14. Participate in the Directorate Audit Programme and engage in CPD activities.
15. Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency cover, sometimes at short notice.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:
16. All pre‑employment checks completed, including NI Access (adult & child)
17. HCPC registration
18. PgCert in Nuclear Medicine
