About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on CNC Miller who can program offline and online. This key role is ideal for someone who is fully confident operating Mazak CNC machines (milling and turning), with a strong focus on proving out new jobs, optimising machining processes, and working closely with our engineering team.
You'll be responsible for the first-off machining of new components, verifying quality, and driving improvements to cycle times and setups across existing jobs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and run Mazak CNC machines (milling and turning) to produce high-precision parts.
* Prove out new component programs, ensuring they meet specification from the first-off stage.
* Work directly with the engineering office to review and validate estimated run times.
* Continuously evaluate and optimise machining processes, setups, and tooling to improve efficiency.
* Carry out thorough first-off inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
* Provide technical feedback to programming and engineering teams to enhance future workflows.
* Support continuous improvement and ensure all work complies with quality and safety standards.
Skills & Experience:
* Proven background in precision CNC machining, with strong hands-on experience on Mazak machines.
* Proficient in both milling and turning operations.
* Solid understanding of Mazatrol controls (and/or experience with offline programming is a bonus).
* Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Skilled in first-off inspection and confident using inspection tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical, process-driven approach to machining and optimisation.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in working with engineering teams.
Desirable:
* Experience in process improvement or lean manufacturing.
* Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems or offline programming tools
