Overview
Job reference: EG224890. Fixed Term Consultant Paediatric Haematologist based at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and the Haematology Laboratory at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Fixed term for 6 months.
Responsibilities
* Provide medical and scientific expertise across a broad range of benign and malignant Neonatal and Paediatric Haematology.
* Contribute to laboratory Haematology and provide on-call and clinical support to Paediatric Haematology and Oncology services.
* Take part in the on-call rota for the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Service and offer Haematology advice to Paediatric and Neonatal teams during office hours and on call.
* Provide advice to colleagues in primary and secondary care (approximately 1 in 5 with prospective cover).
* Work to develop the service in line with departmental and Network priorities; participate in clinical research where appropriate.
* Deliver 1PA per week contributing to the adult Haematology service in an agreed area with the Service Clinical Director.
* Laboratory reporting duties for 1PA per week.
Team and Setting
The Haematology Department includes 6 Specialty Trainee posts, 2 Specialty Doctor posts, Paediatric Haematology and Oncology services, Clinical Nurse Specialists, a Data Manager and a Clinical Research Nurse. The post holder will work within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and collaborate with NHS Grampian regional services.
Qualifications and Registration
* Willingness to participate in UK specialty training evidence leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
* Alternatively, applicants may possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise (licence to practise in place before starting).
