76.82% of £25,183 = £19,345 p.a.

Overview
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 2 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the Ty Dysgu Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Merthyr. Our PRU provides a supportive and nurturing environment for students who require alternative education pathways. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the educational, social, and emotional development of pupils who have been referred to the unit.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting Learning and Development:
* Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programs.
* Work with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives.
* Support pupils with their social and emotional development, encouraging positive behaviour and self-esteem.
* Classroom Support:
* Prepare and organise learning materials and resources.
* Assist in maintaining a safe and stimulating classroom environment.
* Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure a positive learning atmosphere.
* Individualised Support:
* Implement individualised support strategies and behavioural support plans.
* Provide one-on-one support to pupils with specific needs, including those with
learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural challenges, and other additional learning needs (ALN).
* Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to teachers and other relevant staff.
* Collaboration and Communication:
* Work closely with teachers, ALN coordinator, and other staff members to support pupil progress.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on pupil progress and wellbeing.
* Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
* General Duties:
* Assist with the supervision of pupils during break and lunchtimes.
* Support pupils during off-site activities and educational visits.
* Carry out any other duties as required by the Headteacher or senior staff members.
Qualifications And Experience
* Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
* Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (Desirable).
* Previous experience working with children that have Behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD), preferably in an educational or care setting.
* Experience working with pupils with ALN is desirable.
