Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to spearhead company growth within the renewable energy and civils sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bid management, business development, and project management within the utilities, civils, or renewable energy industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
* Identify, research, and develop new business opportunities within the civils and renewable energy sectors across the UK and Ireland.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, consultants, suppliers, and partners.
* Develop strategic growth plans and market intelligence reports to inform business strategy.
* Represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and networking opportunities.
* Support tendering activities by identifying key clients, partners, and frameworks.
Bid & Tender Management:
* Lead the preparation of PQQs, ITTs, and RFPs for large-scale infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
* Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure timely and high-quality bid submissions.
* Develop clear, concise, and persuasive bid narratives that align with client requirements and company capabilities.
* Manage governance and internal approval processes for all tender submissions.
* Collaborate with technical teams to formulate innovative solutions that provide competitive advantage.
Commercial & Strategic Oversight:
* Conduct risk assessments, commercial evaluations, and contract negotiations.
* Provide regular pipeline reporting, opportunity tracking, and business performance updates to senior leadership.
* Support contract negotiations, framework agreements, and long-term client partnerships.
* Leverage existing contracts and client relationships to identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
Operational Support:
* Facilitate smooth handovers from pre-construction to operational teams post-award.
* Support the development of operational strategies that ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience in business development and bid management within the civils, utilities, or renewable energy sectors.
* Strong understanding of tender processes, commercial contracts, and governance frameworks.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Strategic thinker with strong market awareness and commercial acumen.
* Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously.
* Familiarity with JCT & NEC contracts and associated risk management.
* Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline
* Willingness to travel across UK & Ireland as required.
