Role Overview
NHS Highland’s Lochaber Social Work Team is seeking a dynamic and committed individual to join our integrated health and social care community service. This is an exciting opportunity for qualified Social Workers, or those working towards qualification with registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) expected within nine months, to become part of a busy, supportive team delivering a generic adult social work service across Lochaber. The role supports adults with learning disabilities, complex health needs, physical disabilities, severe and enduring mental health conditions, older adults, and young people with disabilities transitioning from children’s services. Based in Fort William, the role offers the unique chance to practice both rural and urban social work across a large geographical area.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a generic adult social work service across Lochaber.
* Support adults with learning disabilities, complex health needs, physical disabilities, severe and enduring mental health conditions, older adults, and young people with disabilities transitioning from children’s services.
* Practice social work in both rural and urban settings across a large geographical area.
Qualifications
* Hold a suitable professional Social Work qualification.
* Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or be on track to register within the required timeframe.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a personal vehicle. (A pool car is also available for work purposes.)
* Successful applicants who are working towards qualification will be appointed at Band 5 level as a Social Work Assistant Practitioner until the qualification is gained and registration is completed.
