The role Reporting to the Director of Business Development & Marketing, the Business Development & Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the firm\'s business development and marketing strategies. This role focuses on our core strengths in technology, media, and entertainment, including film & TV, music, sport, theatre, and other creative industries. As an integral member of the senior BD & Marketing team, the successful candidate will join at an exciting time of strategic growth and investment in the BD&M function. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the firm’s growth.

The BD & Marketing Manager Will

* Oversee and implement BD and marketing plans for several practice groups, sector initiatives, and firm-wide projects.
* Serve as a trusted adviser to partners and other senior stakeholders, building strong relationships to align BD&M efforts with the firm’s objectives.
* Manage and mentor a team, ensuring high standards of output and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
* Lead on strategic initiatives that enhance the firm’s profile, client engagement, and market positioning in key sectors.
* Drive the execution of agreed BD, marketing, and communications strategies, ensuring consistency and alignment with the firm’s vision.

This role requires high visibility and daily interaction with partners, lawyers, and other key stakeholders across the firm. It is both strategic and operational, demanding a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

Business planning and development

* Build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to refine and deliver BD&M plans, demonstrating a deep understanding of practice areas, market trends, and growth opportunities.
* Identify and develop new client and intermediary relationships, designing tailored relationship management plans and overseeing their execution.
* Drive the collation and analysis of data, producing insightful reports to share key trends, opportunities, and performance outcomes.
* Ensure exceptional delivery of all events, including pre-event planning, post-event follow-up, and leveraging extended BD opportunities.
* Lead the pitching process, tailoring proposals with practice, partner, client, and market-specific insights to maximise success.

Marketing and communications

* Oversee the creation of high-quality marketing collateral, including capability statements, brochures, e-bulletins, presentations, and client communications, tracking their effectiveness to continuously improve performance.
* Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Manager to align practice-specific activities with firm-wide communications, PR, and external profile-raising initiatives.
* Contribute to award and directory submissions for key legal and sector-specific platforms, such as Chambers, The Legal 500, Chambers HNW, and Spears 500.
* Partner with the Communications & Marketing Manager on digital marketing strategies, including website updates and online campaigns.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, collaborative, and innovative professional with strong business development and marketing expertise. They will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will bring experience of working in, or with, the technology, media, or entertainment sectors.

* Leadership and team management: Experience managing and mentoring others to deliver high-quality results.
* Sector knowledge: Familiarity with the technology, media, and entertainment sectors is highly desirable, with an understanding of the nuances of creative industries.
* Results-driven: A track record of delivering successful BD and marketing initiatives that support business growth.
* Collaborative approach: A team player who can work cross-functionally and engage with stakeholders across the firm.
* Adaptable and resourceful: Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications And Software Skills

* A minimum of 6 years\' experience in a Marketing/Business Development position, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
* Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear, engaging content.
* Advanced proficiency in desktop publishing tools, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
* Experience with tools such as Vuture, InterAction, Canva, or InDesign would be advantageous.
* Strong organisational skills, with a sense of urgency and the ability to thrive under pressure.
