Your new company
Our client is a large multidisciplinary firm that provides a variety of services, including land access and assembly, agricultural liaison, planning, environmental impact assessments, and geospatial mapping.
Their Environmental and Planning Team is seeking an experienced Principal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Planner to enhance their growing expertise.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Scotland, a comprehensive understanding of Scottish policy and relevant legislation, and the ability to engage with stakeholders and clients.
Your new role
In this role, you will need to:
1. Lead or manage a small team to deliver a range of environmental planning services, focusing on technical EIA and Planning specialisms for projects with varying environmental sensitivities.
2. Coordinate EIA projects in line with relevant guidance, legislation, and policy in the UK, providing advice and preparing EIA reports from initial screening to EORs.
3. Stay informed about policy changes and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including client teams, technical specialists, and Local Authority planning officers.
5. Manage and take ownership of team performance, meeting deadlines and objectives, and proactively driving progress and improvements.
6. Support the wider Environmental and Planning team on other projects, providing guidance, seeking efficiency gains, and identifying new business opportunities.
7. Maintain your knowledge and skills through CPD and professional development, especially if working towards IEMA or RTPI memberships.
8. Support and coordinate the work and development of junior staff, providing constructive feedback and effective delegation.
9. Ensure all work complies with legal, regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.
What youll need to succeed
1. A relevant EIA and/or planning degree, with chartered membership of IEMA and/or MRTPI.
2. Strong analytical, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write fee proposals and advise on multidisciplinary projects.
3. Commercial awareness to understand client needs and stakeholder negotiations.
4. Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn and develop.
5. Good knowledge of GIS and environmental technical disciplines.
6. Self-motivated, organized, and holding a full UK driving license.
7. A team player with a positive attitude.
