Elvet Recruitment are working with a well-established specialist contractor operating within the construction sector, who are looking for a Finance Manager to join their team in the County Durham area. As a Finance Manager you will play a key part in the successful delivery of projects, contributing to precision-led work on site and collaborating with wider teams to ensure high standards are maintained from start to finish. Main duties * Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and delivery of monthly and annual financial reporting, including management accounts, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements. * Ensure full compliance with all applicable financial regulations, standards, and statutory requirements. * Manage the timely completion and submission of VAT returns, PAYE, and other regulatory filings. * Take responsibility for payroll operations, alongside accounts payable and receivable functions. * Monitor and control cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure to support business performance. * Produce financial insights, analysis, and strategic recommendations to inform senior-level decision-making. * Maintain and develop financial systems, driving continuous improvement where appropriate. * Lead, support, and develop a small finance team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and high standards are consistently met. Skills and experience * Proven experience operating in a senior or leadership finance position. * Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA). * Strong experience in management reporting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls. * Commercially astute, with the ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders. * Advanced spreadsheet and financial modelling skills. * Confident working closely with senior management and key decision-makers. * Background within the construction sector would be advantageous, though not essential.
