Responsibilities

* Accountable for running an individual caseload
* Provide support, guidance, and assistance to the team to deliver outstanding service to clients
* Contribute to proactive and commercial case management and progression across the team
* Support the Team Leader/Head of Department in ensuring the delivery of the team’s financial and performance KPIs
* Ensure effective and thorough time recording
* Discuss and agree case tactics and planning with the Team Leader/Head of Department and team members
* Identify and drive cases ready for LOC, settlement, and service within the team
* Work with the team to ensure relevant information is collected and collated to enable case progression
* Manage a caseload in a proactive commercial manner
* Co‑ordinate the progression of cases with all internal and external parties
* Draft legal documentation including LOC and letters of instruction
* Negotiate settlement and issue and service proceedings when required
* Litigate claims as required
* Oversee the documentation and correspondence produced by the team
* Advise the team on any technical issues arising from their cases with support from the Team Leader/Head of Department
* Attend conferences, counsel meetings, client meetings and court outside standard hours when necessary
* Take part in business development activities and contribute ideas and articles


Qualifications

* Recent experience of handling a caseload
* 5 years PQE or equivalent experience working in Clinical Negligence
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
* Excellent communication and drafting skills
* Excellent IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office packages, Proclaim and Excel
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong commercial awareness within a legal environment
* Ability to work well with junior team members, providing coaching and mentoring
* Flexible and willing to commit to achieving results and meeting deadlines
* Excellent client‑care skills
* Resilient and experienced in managing challenging situations
* Full clean driving licence desirable
