Behaviour Mentor
Location: Walsall
Pay: £89–£95 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term
We’re working with welcoming specialist SEND and SEMH schools in and around Walsall who are looking for calm, confident Behaviour Mentors to support pupils who find emotions and behaviour tricky to manage. This role is all about building trust, setting positive boundaries, and helping children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
If you’ve worked with children before and know how powerful a steady presence can be, this could be a brilliant fit.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be supporting pupils across the primary and secondary age range, working one-to-one or in small groups, and becoming a consistent role model they can rely on. Over time, you’ll help pupils develop better behaviour strategies, stronger emotional regulation, and more confidence in school.
Your day-to-day will include:
1. Identifying pupils who need extra behaviour or emotional support
2. Delivering one-to-one mentoring sessions
3. Helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour in positive ways
4. Creating and reviewing individual action plans
5. Working closely with the SENCo and wider school team
6. Tracking progress and monitoring behaviour improvements
7. Supporting pupils during lunch and break times
8. Building positive links with families

9. Previous experience working with children or young people
10. A calm, patient, and proactive approach
11. Confidence using your own initiative
12. Energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to make a difference
13. Someone who can be a positive role model, even on tricky days

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
