About Our Schools
North Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18. We focus on enhancing the resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining two small to medium-sized school sites. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
* Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
* Supervising school cleaning staff.
* Promoting health and safety throughout the schools.
* Handling porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
* Maintaining the general premises and reporting any issues to the Head Teacher.
* Carrying out small repairs and DIY projects.
* Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
* Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking and waste disposal.
* Responding to emergency cleaning needs, such as gritting and spill clean-ups.
* Coordinating an annual deep clean of classrooms and common areas.
* Maintaining cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
* Securing the school premises as the main key holder.
* Locking and unlocking the premises as needed, including after hours.
* Conducting end-of-day checks to ensure security and safety.
* Setting security alarm systems and responding to any breaches.
* Regularly checking CCTV, alarm systems, and fire safety appliances.
* Advising the Head Teacher on security and safety matters.
* Conducting health and safety checks and reporting any issues.
* Ensuring safe access to the school during cold weather conditions.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
* Previous caretaking experience in a school environment.
* Experience in building maintenance.
* Familiarity with security systems, including alarms.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with contractors and visitors.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
* Ability to work in an environment with SEMH children.
* Full driving license and access to a car.
* Willingness to travel between both school sites.
