Contract: 35 hours a week, one year (with the expectation of becoming permanent after this) Location: Home-based Pay: £32,392.50 Reporting to: Programme Director Closing date for applications: midnight 12th April Start date: Flexible, any time from June 1st - September 1st Climate change is the big challenge of this century and young people hold the key to solving it. Climate Ed is an exciting young charity that provides high quality climate education to children across the UK, and enable them, their families and communities to reduce their carbon emissions. Climate Ed started as a London-based charity but is now expanding to key regions across the UK. We are looking for someone highly motivated with experience of working with volunteers and schools to continue the development of the programme in a portfolio of towns and cities across the UK. This role will work with volunteers, schools, local authorities and others to ensure the successful roll-out of the programme and measurement of results. The successful candidate will need to be based in, or have easy access to, a major city in either Yorkshire and Humber (ie Leeds or Sheffield) or the Southwest (ie Bristol). Main responsibilities Recruit, train and co-ordinate volunteers to deliver Climate Ed’s in-school workshop programme in primary schools and offer them support and guidance. Develop relationships with schools, volunteers, local businesses and fundraising bodies. Engage schools through promotion of the workshop programme, remotely and in person. Collate student, teacher and volunteer feedback and support the continued development of Climate Ed’s classroom resources. Report progress of the roll-out to the Programme Director, raising successes, challenges, risks and issues and agreeing actions to resolve problems. Work with CEO to raise funds for ongoing programme delivery across multiple regions. Help to promote the programme and charity on the website, social media and other marketing activity by providing programme-related content. Essential knowledge, skills and experience Teaching experience in UK schools (with Qualified Teacher Status). Knowledge of either Yorkshire and Humber region, or the Southwest, and experience within local community networks and schools in the area. Motivating and managing a team (colleagues, community, volunteers). Gathering and reporting on data. Knowledge of safeguarding. Experience organising programmes of work. Knowledge of climate change, climate science and carbon footprint measurement. Ability to work flexibly and independently in new or uncertain contexts, with an ability to problem-solve and create opportunities in unfamiliar areas. Desirable knowledge, skills and experience Experience in marketing and promoting extra-curricular activities to schools. Project management experience, developing delivery plans, tracking and reporting on progress. Knowledge of behaviour change as it relates to climate change and promoting sustainable lifestyles. Experience mentoring, training and coaching. Knowledge of the UK school curriculum. Experience designing teaching resources and assessing their effectiveness.
