The Department
This role is based within the Research Support Unit, which is responsible for advancing the University's research, knowledge exchange, and postgraduate research activities.
The Role
The primary focus of this role is to collaborate with senior managers and researchers across the University to foster a research culture and environment that supports the delivery of high-quality academic work. Based in the Research Support Unit, the post-holder will work closely with the Research Director to ensure the University meets its annual research targets and adopts best practice from across the sector. The role also involves supporting strategic initiatives to achieve the University's overarching research objectives, including positioning UWL within the top 70 universities for REF2029. Key responsibilities include managing the REF submission, preparing the Code of Practice, coordinating internal and external audits, providing updates to the REF Task Group and the URIC Committee, and overseeing the submission of outputs, impact case studies, and the Environment statement in line with REF submission guidelines.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual with a strong ability to identify and develop new opportunities and ensure their successful delivery. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to support the University's diverse research activities, working effectively with both internal stakeholders and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of REF guidelines and processes, including outputs evaluation, the development of Impact Case Studies, and the preparation of research Environment statements.
