This is a 12-month fellowship and the successful candidate will be part of a wider cohort of GIRFT fellows. You will have weekly or fortnightly supervision meetings with GIRFT's Academic Content Lead and regular access to GIRFT's national clinical lead for your specialty, Professor Tim Briggs (National Director of Clinical Improvement), and the wider GIRFT Academy team. You will have access to national datasets curated by NHS England, including Hospital Episodes Statistics, Out-patients, Emergency Care, and Theatres datasets. Support will be provided to write peer-reviewed research publications, conference presentations, and guidelines or recommendations as appropriate. Taught elements include sessions on quality improvement methodology, leadership, behavioral change, action learning sets, statistics, academic publication, and public engagement. Peer support from other fellows is an important component of the fellowship.
Main duties of the job
The role is split across the week, with 3 days dedicated to GIRFT research in sustainability in Urology services. The remaining two days involve clinical work, including diagnostic procedures, clinics, same-day emergency care, and supporting junior urology staff, such as postgraduate urology trainees, doctors' assistants, and surgical care practitioners. Coverage for colleagues' absences may be required.

Clinical Experience, Training, and Skills
* Completed CT/SHO level training with at least 6 months of experience in urology.
