Overview

Job Advert. Mencap is seeking a compassionate Community Partner to join our team in Carmarthenshire. The role is part time (30 hours per week) on a fixed term contract ending March 2027 (possibility of extension). Welsh language ability is desirable. The Community Partner will work with individuals with learning disabilities, applying an asset-based approach to enhance health and wellbeing, promote resilience and independence, and partner with the community to make Ammanford the best place for people with learning disabilities and their families to live. A driver and access to a car for work purposes are required.

* A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.


Key Responsibilities

* Work in a co-productive way to help people explore their communities and create the solutions they want for the services they need.
* Empower communities to be the solution.
* Support people with a learning disability and families to turn ideas into action by working in an asset-based way.
* Facilitate collaboration with existing services and community assets to develop stronger, inclusive communities.
* Work alongside local services, supporting them to develop their local offer for maximum impact.
* Create opportunities for co-production, shaping how services respond to the needs of local people with a learning disability.
* Gather stories and learning to understand the impact and develop the local system for sharing learning from this approach.
* Be a trusted route to advice, information and advocacy support.
* Support people to access the information and advice they need.
* Develop strong links with local advocacy providers and manage the funding allocation to support self-advocacy.

This role requires you to be a driver, and have access to a car for work purposes.
