One of the entertainment industry’s leading production facilities is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Senior Management Team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role requires c.4-5+ years PQE and experience within a commercial property business, supporting across real estate, strategic planning, commercial negotiations, corporate compliance, risk management, and contracting.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a real estate lawyer to spread their wings into other areas of law and to work closely alongside a variety of commercial stakeholders.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Real Estate:
* Leading the negotiation of leases, underleases, licenses to alter, property acquisitions
* Co-ordinating planning, licensing, appeals and broader transactions
* Stakeholder management including landlord and local government liaison
Corporate / Commercial:
* Negotiating Studio License Agreements and Virtual Production Services Agreements with key clients
* Negotiating terms and agreements with suppliers of goods and services
* Proactive management of Company Secretarial matters for all group companies, including: maintaining company records and registers, managing shareholder communications, board meeting minute-taking, management of the employee growth share scheme
* Data Protection Officer, responsible for data protection compliance
* Development and delivery of strategic legal risk management initiatives, including maintaining appropriate levels of insurance coverage
* Maintaining the trademark portfolio
* Leading negotiation of equity investments, debt funding, financing instruments, and corporate restructuring
* Proactive maintenance and review of legal processes, policies and protocols, including: maintaining legal precedent documents, horizon-scanning for changes in law and regulation requiring new / updated policies, internal training when required
General:
* Day to day legal support and advice across the business to ensure all legal issues are identified and legal risk is managed
* Supporting with commercial deal structuring
* Management of external counsel and Legal budget
* Management of a Paralegal

To be considered, you should have c.4-5+ years PQE in real estate and experience working with a high growth property business, and commercial contracts experience – with working exposure to the media/entertainment industry being advantageous. The ability to advise and influence stakeholders at all levels is key, as is the confidence to take on legal challenges (corporate tax, financings, debt restructuring, data privacy, co-productions) that may sit outside of your direct experience.
Please also note that the role requires 3 days in the office.
