Job Description
As a Primary Design Engineer within the UK Energy business, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering power transmission infrastructure to achieve Net Zero in the UK. WSP has a significant workload, including designing over 20 substations, offering ample development opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
* Designing comprehensive drawings for Grid and Primary substations.
* Preparing technical specifications for electrical plant and substation projects from 132kV to 400kV.
* Producing feasibility reports, cost estimates, layouts, GA drawings, and plant specifications.
* Reviewing designs to ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
* Delivering designs in accordance with contract requirements.
* Undertaking roles of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for HV and EHV projects.
* Managing health and safety risks and attending site meetings for design support.
Candidate Requirements:
* Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience with substation design, including HV and EHV (132kV to 400kV), AIS & GIS.
* Knowledge of engineering standards, policies, and cable design.
* Understanding of H&S and CDM regulations; experience as Designer/Principal Designer.
* Preferably working towards Chartered Engineer status and holding BP141 HV Plant Authorization.
