Description This is a great opportunity for an experienced leader to shape and oversee mortgage policy across Nationwide Building Society (NBS) and The Mortgage Works (TMW). As a Senior Manager, you will lead a team of mortgage professionals responsible for ensuring our mortgages operate effectively, deliver fair outcomes for customers, and comply with all regulatory and internal standards. You will provide strategic oversight of mortgage policy, both internal and external, ensuring consistency and clarity across brands. Your role will focus on identifying and mitigating customer harm through robust review and root cause analysis, with the aim of driving improvements in processes and governance. Responsibilities What you’ll be doing You will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Product & Assistant Product Managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus whilst owning and maintaining relevant internal mortgage policy across NBS and TMW, ensuring clarity and alignment with regulatory requirements. You will also oversee the performance and governance of the existing mortgage books, ensuring propositions deliver good customer outcomes and meet business objectives. Additionally, you’ll monitor and analyse customer complaints and operational issues, drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent harm. Acting as a senior escalation point for complex and high-profile issues and complaints, you’ll ensure timely resolution and robust management is in play. By collaborating with stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Operations, and external bodies you’ll maintain strong governance procedures whilst influencing industry standards. You’ll provide insight and recommendations to senior leadership on emerging risks, regulatory changes and customer trends. About you The minimum requirements for the role are: Extensive experience in mortgage product or policy management within financial services Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams Deep understanding of mortgage policy frameworks, regulatory requirements, and customer outcome principles Analytical mindset with expertise in root cause analysis and risk mitigation Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels and represent the organisation externally Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together.
