Clinical Support Assistant

An opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Clinical Support Assistant to work within our North Tyneside Recovery Partnership. The role involves supporting individuals affected by substance and alcohol misuse who also have criminal justice background or involvement. You will work directly into the Criminal Justice Pathway, providing safe and effective interventions, harm reduction advice and psycho-social support to help service users consider and achieve recovery.
The role will expect an outreach approach and will involve individualised clinical assessment, care planning, formulation, and collaborative working across the multi‑agency team. The team consists of a well‑established mix of professionals working collaboratively to deliver individualised care.
Main duties of the job
* Assist in the delivery of care to service users with diverse needs and mental health conditions, under the direction of a registered practitioner.
* Support those with criminal justice background or active involvement, helping them consider links between offending, alcohol/substance misuse and change.
* Implement and evaluate care within a prescribed framework, ensuring high quality, individualised care that promotes recovery, wellbeing and maximises independence.
* Support the team in providing excellent and effective person‑centred care.
* Provide compassionate care based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
* Actively engage with supervision and appraisal processes as identified in Trust policy.

Person Specification
* Education and qualification: Senior Healthcare Support Worker or equivalent, or working towards, and GCSE A‑C in maths and English or equivalent.
* Experience: Experience working within a relevant clinical service, with complex needs, community settings, and service users with addiction needs.
* Knowledge: Understanding of person‑centred care, experience of working/volunteering in an appropriate care setting.
* Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, ICT functional skills, effective time management, ability to work without direct supervision, phlebotomy and ECG training.
* Ability to meet the mobility and geographical requirements of the post.
