Job summary

As a Senior Radiographer, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and delivery of radiotherapy treatments, while supporting service development and quality assurance. You'll work across treatment and pre-treatment areas, and be actively involved in multidisciplinary team meetings and patient care.
You will also -
Lead and support junior staff and students
Produce computerised treatment plans and immobilisation devices
Participate in dosimetry, equipment QA, and service audits
Contribute to service innovation and continuous improvement
We're looking for someone with -
HCPC registration and a relevant qualification (BSc or DCR(T))
Strong clinical experience and technical knowledge in radiotherapy
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
A commitment to patient care, professional development, and teamwork

Main duties, tasks & skills required
Provide a patient focused service within the team, ensuring accurate planning and delivery of Radiotherapy treatments as prescribed, by setting and maintaining the highest professional and technical standards
To assist the radiographer in charge of the area to which you assigned and deputise as necessary
To be involved with the development of radiotherapy services
To produce computerised radiotherapy treatment plans for patients undergoing radiotherapy
Production of thermoplastic immobilisation masks
Participation in the routine dosimetry and quality control programme on treatment machines and CT simulator in the department
Participation in other MDTs as required, ensuring a seamless work flow within the radiotherapy service
To deputise for Advanced Practice Radiographers in their absence
To provide preceptorship to graduate staff

Job description
To be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of a pre-treatment / preparation / treatment / review area in the department, ensuring high standards are maintained under the guidance of the specialist therapeutic radiographers.
To undertake supervision responsibilities for a team, ensuring that departmental and Trust policies are applied consistently.
To plan and / or deliver safe and accurate radiotherapy treatment.
Develop and maintain a high level of clinical expertise in radiotherapy, acting as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for colleagues and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care, with a focus on the quality elements of the service, including supporting the specialist therapeutic radiographers in the delivery of quality objectives.
To use professional/ proficient knowledge to identify gaps in the evidence base, making a critical analysis of new evidence and its relevance, and contribute to this evidence base by supervising and participating in high quality audit and research programmes.
To be involved with the development of radiotherapy services.
To use advanced communication skills to support patients and carers in informed decision making about their care.
