Overview
Schemes Engineer - Highways
We are seeking a Schemes Engineer to support the delivery of projects across TfL contracts, from client concept through design and construction, through to final handover.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and drive the successful delivery of build programmes.
* Conduct buildability reviews of designs with designers and subcontractors.
* Develop build programmes for acceptance by TfL.
* Liaise with stakeholders including TfL, London Buses, Boroughs, Network Rail, Emergency Services, and more.
* Oversee traffic management (TM) drawings and ensure all safety requirements are met.
* Manage permit submissions (S61, PAA, PA, TTRO, TMAN) within required timescales.
* Review and sign off Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
* Program and coordinate subcontractor activities.
* Ensure compliance with Kier SHEQ standards and safe operating procedures.
* Chair contractor/client progress meetings and provide regular reporting.
* Resolve site queries and ensure schemes are built to approved design and specification.
* Deliver as-built drawings and post-construction information for clients.
* Conduct weekly site Health & Safety audits.
Skills & Experience
* Proven highways experience (London experience preferred).
* Strong multitasking and organisational skills to manage multiple schemes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Full UK manual driving licence.
* IT proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
* Knowledge of Chapter 8 Traffic Management and Specification for Highway Works.
* CSCS card holder (preferred).
* Experience with road space permitting (NH, TfL, Boroughs).
* HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
* SMSTS or SSSTS certification required.
* NEC form of contract experience essential.
You must have Highways experience to be considered for this position.
