Team Leader – Logistics (material movement)

Role
We have an exciting new opportunity for a team leader, with a focus on material movement, to join the logistics team in our new Offsite facility in Dewsbury. We are looking for someone with appropriate qualifications/appointed person in leading operations within a warehouse environment, moving heavy materials, crane lifting, and organising lift plans.
Our new facility will be available from early 2026, so the successful candidate may be required to initially work from our Bradford site until the Dewsbury premises are available.
Responsibilities:
Daily Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Health & Safety Compliance:
* Enforce safe working practices and ensure PPE is worn correctly.
* Conduct safety checks and report hazards or incidents.
* Lead by example in maintaining a clean and safe work area.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
* Allocate tasks and monitor performance of logistics operatives.
* Conduct daily briefings to communicate targets, updates, and safety reminders.
* Provide coaching, support, and training to team members.
* Manage attendance, shift patterns, and resolve minor personnel issues.
3. Operational Coordination
* Oversee inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams.
* Ensure proper documentation for all logistics activities (e.g., delivery notes).
* Liaise with transport providers and internal departments to resolve delays or issues.
4. Performance Monitoring
* Track KPIs such as delivery accuracy, turnaround time, and cost efficiency.
* Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
* Prepare daily or weekly reports for management.
5. Communication & Problem Solving
* Act as the first point of contact for logistics-related queries.
* Resolve operational issues quickly to minimize disruption.
* Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Key Skills & Attributes:
* Appointed person for lifting operations with previous experience in a similar role
* Strong leadership and people management skills
* Excellent organizational and time management abilities
* Good understanding of logistics systems and processes
* Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
* Proficient in using logistics software and Microsoft Office tools
