Position Overview
Speciality Doctor – Ophthalmology (MKUH)
All Medical and Dental Staff employed by the Trust are expected to comply with hospital health and safety policies, clinical governance and other risk management policies. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of five Consultant Ophthalmologists and will provide extensive experience in the management of general ophthalmic problems.
Responsibilities
* Diagnosis and treatment of patients in the medical retina and vitreo‑retinal clinics.
* Treatment of patients using laser procedures and intravitreal injection for age‑related macular degeneration.
* Management of acute ophthalmic conditions in Booked Urgent Service (BUS) clinics.
* Cover for clinics where clinical need exists and participation in on‑call rota and evening clinics with booked urgent patients.
* Active participation in audit projects and contribution to departmental quality improvement.
* Supervision and training of junior doctors and Medical Students, and regular undergraduate teaching commitment.
Qualifications
Applicants who are unable, for personal reasons, to work full‑time will be eligible to be considered for the post. Job share applicants are also welcomed and modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues.
