About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Communications & PR Officer to help tell the story of Swim England and strengthen our reputation across the aquatic sector. This role plays a key part in delivering clear, engaging communications and managing media relations to build awareness, trust and engagement with our audiences.
You will lead on internal communications, create compelling written and visual content, and support the delivery of marketing and communications campaigns. Using a data-driven approach, you’ll evaluate performance and help shape content that drives impact and supports organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Create engaging written and video content for Swim England’s key audiences, optimising storytelling through insight and data.
- Manage media relations, including press releases, interviews and reactive enquiries.
- Evaluate campaign and content performance, identifying opportunities and presenting recommendations to the Marketing and Communications Manager.
- Manage core content on swimming.org, optimising digital journeys for key audiences.
- Lead on internal communications, ensuring strategic and operational messages reach staff via Microsoft Teams, People First and monthly briefings.
- Support delivery of the annual marketing and communications plan.
- Build strong relationships with media and swimming sector stakeholders.
- Produce internal and external communications such as newsletters, bulletins and press releases.
- Collaborate with sport, club and safe aquatics teams to ensure messaging aligns with organisational priorities.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience working in a communications or PR role.
- Proven ability to create engaging and purposeful corporate content.
- Experience delivering proactive media outreach.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, CMS platforms, social media and email marketing software.
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple campaigns.
- Degree in communications, journalism or equivalent experience.
- Excellent content production skills including photography and video creation.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop or similar tools.
- Strong proofreading and attention to detail.
- Understanding of SEO and performance analytics.
- Proactive, flexible and adaptable, with willingness to work evenings and weekends when required.
Desirable
- Knowledge of aquatic sports and participation environments.
- Experience reporting on events and working with media.
