About you
To assist the driver in the provision of an efficient and effective transport service, having due regard to the
needs of all passengers whilst in your care. Operate all auxiliary equipment fitted to vehicles such as lifts,
steps, wheelchair tie-down & occupant restraint systems, the removal and replacement of seating where
necessary etc.

The successful candidate will have:
1. To assist passengers travelling on Transport Services vehicles to and from their destination,
assisting with getting on and off the vehicle; carrying and stowing luggage and equipment as
required; and to ensure the passengers’ comfort and safety at all times
2. To provide other assistance in relation to the passenger lift or ramp and any other equipment
carried on the bus (including wheelchair and occupant restraint systems)
3. To assist the driver by route finding and giving directions when manoeuvring the vehicle
4. To liaise, as appropriate, between Transport Services operations staff, service purchasers, carers
and parents to ensure quality of service provision

Cheshire East Transport Services department are recruiting Passenger Assistants who are looking for a new challenge and enjoy helping people. Working on our home to school transport, you will be friendly and able to communicate well with staff and customers while you provide appropriate assistance to passengers who may have learning, mobility, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. Experience of working with passengers who have disabilities is desirable but you will be given full training. You will also assist the driver by route finding and giving directions when necessary.
Although primarily based in Middlewich, you must be prepared to work flexibly as occasionally you may be required to work from other sites within Cheshire East. Cheshire East Transport Services currently has two vehicles operating in Macclesfield.
