Property Services, within Housing and Technical Resources, is responsible for the delivery of maintenance and improvement works to the Councilâs property portfolio. \n\n Property Services is split between 3 service areas: -\n\nBuilding Services\n\nAssets and Estates \n\nConsultancy Services. \n\nBuilding Services is responsible for delivering construction and improvement projects in addition to undertaking maintenance works across the Councilâs property portfolio, and we are looking for a variety of Trade Modern Apprentices to join the team. \nWho we are looking for\n\nThe Council is committed to fostering equality, diversity and inclusion in itâs workforce. Applicants must be 16 years of age by 26/09/2026 and no older than 19 years of age by 06/08/2026.\n\nSouth Lanarkshire Council and Skills Development Scotland recognise that disabled people and those who are care-experienced can face challenges on their career journey. So, if you are disabled or care experienced and aged between 20 and 29 years by 06/08/2026, you may be eligible to apply if you meet the essential criteria.\n\nCare experienced means you are or were, formally looked after by a local authority, in the family home (with support from social services or a social worker) or in foster care, residential/secure care, or kinship care (with family friends or relatives).\n\nWe welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate a commitment to their own learning, as the successful candidates will become qualified and time served in their chosen trade. The apprenticeship will be completed through a mixture of on-the-job experience, working alongside qualified/experienced tradespeople; and off-the-job experience at college, gaining the underpinning knowledge and recognised qualifications required for your chosen trade. During your training you will also develop your core skills through the work you carry out.\n You will learn all the skills, knowledge, understanding and qualifications to become a competent tradesperson in your chosen field. You will train with qualified/competent tradespeople on the job and attend South Lanarkshire College for your qualifications. During your apprenticeship you will also build your Meta and Core skills through the work you carry out. As these are apprentice trainee opportunities, applicants do not need to have any previous experience or qualifications in their chosen field, however it is important to have an interest and understanding of the trade you choose.\nAll applicants will be required to register for and complete an online assessment as part of the process. The purpose of this this is to provide an indication of your technical ability for the role you have applied for.
