We are seeking an enthusiastic, active and reliable individual to work as part of our family poultry business which rears day-old chicks into chickens.
The position is on a modern broiler farm, which rears 262,000-day-old chicks for the independent wholesale market. The farm is well kept and very clean and prides itself on high standards of stockmanship, welfare and attention to detail. The business uses state of the art computers and livestock monitoring cameras to assist caring for the young birds.
The role will include:
* Supporting the farm manager
* Responsibility for bird health and welfare
* Ensuring excellent biosecurity measures
* Regular communication/liaising with the farm management team
* Ensuring excellent production performance
* Feed and water management
* Working alongside the farm manager and owner to ensure targets are met
* Environmental control and management
* Carrying out tasks according to Red Tractor Assurance Standards
* Data collection and recording
* Minor maintenance and project work
The successful applicant must have:

Previous animal/livestock/commercial poultry management responsibility is preferred for this role (minimum 2 years).
We are looking for a long term individual that is happy and content to work on a farm in the countryside and enjoy working as part of a small team.
There is lots of variety to this role, no two days are the same
In-house training will be provided as part of learning the job role as well as further training, working towards an NVQ Level 3 Qualification in poultry production and Poultec short courses will be provided as part of receiving a poultry passport.
Practical transferable skills welcome.
The right candidate must be willing to work weekends and bank holidays as required.
POA: Exact salary will be dependent on person's ability/management experience.
