Job Summary
Applications are invited for the post of Senior Training Fellow Doctor Child Health. 1 x post to commence as soon as possible to 31st March 2026 and 1 x post to commence on 22nd December 2025 - 31st March 2026. Due to the short term nature of these posts, we will be unable to provide sponsorship. You will need to be able to undertake this post without requiring sponsorship. This is an opportunity to gain paediatric/neonatal experience in a busy Unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The post holder will gain good experience in general paediatrics working in the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU), wards and children’s outpatient clinics and the Neonatal unit. We are part of the Child Health Directorate, which is one of the largest in the country, with many paediatric sub specialties receiving tertiary care referrals including paediatric gastroenterology services, respiratory, haematology-oncology, diabetes and endocrinology, rheumatology, epilepsy and neurology, community paediatrics, paediatric intensive care.
Responsibilities
* Gain good experience in general paediatrics working in the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU), wards and children’s outpatient clinics and the Neonatal unit.
* Work within the Royal Stoke University Hospital paediatric services as part of the busy Unit.
* Be part of the Child Health Directorate, a large department with tertiary care referrals across multiple paediatric subspecialties.
Qualifications
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC Registration
* APLS provider status
* Awards/distinctions whilst studying for 1st
* Safeguarding Level 3 training

* MRCPCH examination

* Academic and extracurricular achievements
Clinical Experience
Essential
* Experience at ST3 Paediatrics and above level
* Ability to work on the middle grade rota in General Paediatrics
Desirable
* Ability to work on the middle grade rota on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
Skills
Essential
* Proven ability to work as a team, manage workloads effectively and cope under pressure
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, senior medical staff and other health professionals
* Proficient and efficient handling of medical problems with evidence of safe, sound practical procedures
Desirable
* Knowledge of NHS changes and their impact on specialty work
* Awareness of the importance of clinical governance
