Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a 4-6 session salaried GP to join our dynamic forward‑thinking team here at Godolphin Health. The practice operates at two sites – Praze an Beeble and Connor Downs – located within a 10‑minute drive off the A30 and close to the beautiful Cornish coastline.

We are a training practice looking after a list of 9,032 patients, dispensing to 65% of them. The three partners are supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising five salaried GPs, an advanced nurse practitioner, two practice nurses, two healthcare assistants and a phlebotomist. We also host GP trainees. Through our Primary Care Network we share three mental‑health practitioners, a first‑contact physiotherapist, a care‑home paramedic and shares of two pharmacists and three pharmacy technicians. We are a friendly and supportive team.


Main Duties of the Job

* Triage all appointment requests using Klinik.
* Conduct up to 12 × 15‑minute consultations in morning and afternoon surgeries, plus an equal share of duty sessions.
* Allocate protected time for pathology result processing.
* Perform occasional home visits, shared with the clinical team to support frail housebound patients.
* Provide Enhanced Access to General Practice services on a shared rota.
* Participate in a weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting for patient care and learning.
* Attend a monthly clinical governance/educational meeting for all staff.
* Maintain a CQC rating of ‘Good’ across all domains.

Clinical Responsibilities

* Make autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self‑referenced or referred from other health‑care workers.
* Ensure timely review of all workflow within practice systems, including documents, pathology results, medicines queries, emails and tasks.
* Assess health‑care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop health care plans in consultation with patients and in line with current disease‑management protocols.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Refer to appropriate care providers.
* Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Collect data for audit purposes.
* Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
* Prescribe in accordance with the practice formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.
* Provide patients with details or copies of medical records in a confidential manner.
* Fulfil all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

* Share the fair workload of surgeries outside core GMS hours under extended‑hours enhanced service or improved access schemes.
* Attend practice clinical meetings as scheduled.
* Comply with all relevant practice policies and guidelines – prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, safeguarding of children & vulnerable adults.
* Commit to life‑long learning and audit for evidence‑based best practice.
* Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
* Commit to data quality within electronic patient records.
* Summarise patient records and read‑code data.
* Attend and undertake training and events organised by the practice or other agencies.

* Access to confidential patient, carer, staff and business information is strictly confidential.
* Information may only be disclosed to authorised persons as per practice policies.


Health & Safety

The post‑holder will lead on promotion and management of health and safety, infection control and related policies.

Qualifications

* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
* On Medical Performers List
* Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
* Current GP Vocational Training Scheme “Training” status
* Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
* UK driving licence
* UK work permit (if required)
* Current level 3 safeguarding certificate (adult and children)


Desirable Qualifications

* Evidence of continued professional development

* Experience teaching undergraduate students
* Palliative care experience
* Experience with women’s health issues (e.g., contraception implants)
