Overview
Senior Systems Engineer with strong knowledge of Linux (particularly Red Hat) and experience designing infrastructure solutions. The role provides Linux infrastructure oversight to ensure delivery and performance of IT services within an expanding organisation.
Responsibilities
* Act as the Linux Subject Matter Expert, providing infrastructure oversight and ensuring successful delivery and performance of IT services.
* Manage an enterprise Linux estate in a corporate environment (especially Red Hat).
* Maintain a strong Infrastructure and OS background in Linux and Windows, acting as a go-to person for Linux while supporting Windows where needed.
* Develop scripts in Bash and, ideally, PowerShell.
* Contribute to the design, development and evolution of the infrastructure and systems, including iterative improvements to existing solutions.
* Learn and get involved in unfamiliar technologies, including Cloud Platforms, SQL AlwaysOn, VDI Infrastructure, Zabbix and Postfix.
* Mentor and coach junior team members.
* Collaborate effectively with others to solve problems innovatively.
Qualifications
* Experience managing an Enterprise Linux estate in a corporate environment (especially Red Hat).
* Strong infrastructure and OS background in Linux and Windows; able to support on the Windows side as needed.
* Good scripting skills in Bash and ideally PowerShell.
* Involvement in design, development and evolution of infrastructure and systems with a track record of iterative improvements.
* Willingness to learn and work with unfamiliar technologies and platforms.
* Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
