Job Title: Regulatory Solicitor - Contentious / Disputes (NQ to 2 years PQE)
Location: Sheffield with Hybrid Working
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Role Overview & Daily Responsibilities:
* Act on planning and infrastructure disputes: judicial review/statutory appeals, planning inquiries/ExA hearings, DCOs, CPOs, s106/s278 disputes, village green/town & village green challenges, and rights of way.
* Advise on energy and infrastructure regulation (generation, networks, pipelines, waste, water) including permitting, licence compliance and enforcement.
* Manage incident response (pollution events, major accidents), internal investigations, and regulator liaison.
* Represent clients before regulators/courts/tribunals (e.g., Environment Agency, HSE, Natural Resources Wales, SEPA, local planning authorities, Ofgem/Ofwat).
* Handle complex case files, including multi-party disputes and technically detailed matters.
* Provide non-contentious advice on regulatory compliance, permitting regimes, planning strategy, health & safety management, and risk allocation in transactions.
* Coordinate expert evidence, eDisclosure and privilege strategy; draft pleadings, position papers and submissions.
* Support corporate/real estate transactions on contentious risk allocation and post-completion disputes.
* Contribute to business development, thought leadership and training.
