Position: Assistant Accountant
Location: Inverclyde
Salary: £30,000 £35,000 (depending on experience)
My client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join a dynamic and growing business. This role will play a key part in the day-to-day finance operations and the preparation of monthly management accounts.
Key Responsibilities Support the month-end process, including preparation and posting of journals (payroll, accruals, and prepayments).
Manage revenue recognition and ensure accuracy in reporting.
Handle intercompany charges and reconciliations.
Complete balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register.
Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and departmental budgets.
Contribute to the annual budget process and external audit requirements.
Provide occasional support to Accounts Payable and Payroll functions as needed.
Identify and implement continuous process improvements within the finance team.
Skills & Experience High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
Strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working to tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across departments.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting systems.
Awareness of data privacy and compliance standards.
Qualifications Studying towards or holding a recognised accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred, but not essential.
