Role Overview
This newly created role will play a vital role in helping residents access and sustain homes in the Private Rented Sector. You will provide expert advice on tenancy rights, support residents to secure suitable accommodation, and deliver schemes that promote tenancy stability.
Responsibilities
* Act as a trusted advisor to tenants, mediating disputes with landlords and resolving issues before they escalate.
* Investigate cases of harassment, unlawful eviction, and non‑compliance, and take appropriate action, including preparing cases for court where needed.
* Provide tenancy support, homelessness prevention, and enforcement services.
* Work closely with partners to ensure safe, fair, and lawful housing across Tameside.
Qualifications
* Experience working in a customer‑facing environment, confidently managing challenging situations and achieving positive outcomes.
* Strong understanding of the Private Rented Sector and relevant housing legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply the law effectively in day‑to‑day work.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to build trust with tenants, landlords, and partners while resolving disputes professionally.
* Highly organised and resilient, capable of managing a complex caseload, prioritising competing demands, and maintaining accurate records to support enforcement action.
* Strong commitment to delivering high‑quality customer service, supported by good IT skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
* Designated customer‑facing role under the fluency duty, requiring a specified level of spoken English.
