Role Overview
Are you looking for a rewarding career in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)? We have an exciting opportunity for a professionally registered clinician to join our North Yorkshire, York and Selby (NYYS) CAMHS Crisis team. The NYYS CAMHS Crisis Team is a locality‑wide service that provides a 24/7 service to young people under the age of 18 and their carers/families in most parts of North Yorkshire, York and Selby (excluding the Craven area, which is covered by a different trust).
Responsibilities
* Conduct psycho‑social assessment of the mental health and emotional needs of a young person.
* Perform thorough risk assessment and formulate a care plan that includes a robust safety plan.
* Create and implement safety plans with the child, young person and carers to enable safe return home.
* Coordinate the team’s clinical activities and manage the shared caseload across the locality.
* Work autonomously and travel independently across the whole locality; access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes is required.
* Lead the shift, direct junior staff and provide sound clinical decisions in crisis situations to manage risk of harm.
* Communicate effectively with young people, families and other professionals so they receive the right level of support at the right time.
* Offer telephone support to children, young people, carers and other professionals who need advice and guidance around emotional distress, and provide strategies to reduce and manage risk of harm.
Qualifications
* Band 6 Registered Professional with a keen interest in working with children and young people to improve mental health.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a young person, their carers and other professionals during times of high distress.
* Strong communication skills.
* Experience in mental health services; knowledge of child and adolescent mental health is desirable.
* Understanding of relevant legislation (MHA, MCA, Children’s Act).
* Detailed understanding of safeguarding, clinical risk assessment and management.
* Desire to learn new skills and a commitment to professional development.

Location and Travel
This role is based in North Yorkshire, York and Selby. Successful candidates must be able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
