Description
An opportunity has arisen to join the team at Corby Power Station on a 12-month fixed term contract.
The role is focused on the safe, efficient operation and first-line maintenance of the plant, supporting its reliability and maximising commercial performance. This position offers the chance to work within a fast-paced, dynamic environment where safety, efficiency, and teamwork are prioritised.
This position is part of a rotating shift schedule that provides 24/7/365 coverage to meet business needs. Shifts may fall at any time between 00:01 on Monday and 00:00 on Sunday. The role averages 37 working hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Team Leader, the key responsibilities and duties include:
* Start up, shutdown and operating Corby Power Station in line with the directions of the Operations Team Leader and in accordance with relevant legislation, site procedures and best practice standards.
* Monitoring plant performance to ensure safe and efficient delivery of production targets and protection of plant integrity.
* Working flexibly to meet changing operational and business requirements.
* Operating the plant via the Control Room DCS systems, monitoring plant parameters and alarms etc.
* Plant attendance for routine monitoring, operations and fault response.
* Carrying out first line maintenance and preventative maintenance routines to maintain plant availability and reliability.
* Assisting with the production and maintenance of site procedures.
* Enacting the Role of Emergency Controller if required when implementing Station Emergency Plans.
* Maintaining competencies as specified to meet role requirements as defined from time to time including e.g. First Aid, etc.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Background
* Experience of Power Station operations or a similar heavy process industry (essential).
* A good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards (essential).
* Be capable and willing to work towards becoming authorised as SPE/SSC under the SSoW Rules (essential).
* Demonstrable competence in use of IT/IS skills e.g. MS Office and control systems (essential).
* Good numeracy, literacy and problem-solving skills (essential).
* Experience of laboratory analysis equipment and techniques (desirable)

Qualifications
* A recognised engineering/craft-based qualification in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of ONC (or equivalent experience) in an appropriate engineering subject (essential).
* Possess a HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline (desirable).
* Completed a recognised formal training programme or apprenticeship to achieve technician status (C&G parts I, II &III) (desirable).
* Member of recognised professional institution (desirable).
