Control Panel Design Engineer

We’re supporting a specialist engineering business that is looking to add a skilled BMS Control Panel Designer to their team.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for producing high‑quality control panel designs for BMS and HVAC applications, working closely with project teams to ensure seamless integration from concept through to installation. You’ll create electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, termination schedules, and Bills of Materials using EPLAN or similar electrical design packages.
You’ll also play a key role in ensuring all designs meet industry standards and compliance requirements, providing technical support during panel manufacture and installation, and contributing to continuous improvement of internal design standards and templates.
What you’ll be doing
Designing BMS and HVAC control panels using EPLAN or equivalent software
Creating schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams and documentation
Preparing BOMs and component specifications for manufacture
Ensuring compliance with IEC, UL, NEC and other relevant standards
Collaborating with project managers, controls engineers and field teams
Supporting workshops during panel build and on-site installation
Participating in design reviews and updating work based on feedback
Maintaining accurate documentation for ongoing compliance and project recordsWhat we’re looking for
Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or relevant experience
Proven background in BMS or electrical control panel design
Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar design software
Strong understanding of electrical and control components (PLCs, relays, contactors, etc.)
Familiarity with HVAC systems and building automation
Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy and communication skills
