Overview
Great Yorkshire Rivers (GYR) Technical Specialist – a key technical lead within the Yorkshire Fisheries Team, responsible for advancing fish passage improvements across Yorkshire.
Responsibilities
* Lead the GYR Technical Working Group and drive technical excellence in barrier removal and other fish passage solutions.
* Develop and implement a GYR Science and Monitoring Strategy to sustain project outcomes.
* Maintain and strengthen relationships with local delivery partners, interested parties and the Environment Agency.
* Provide incident response support and participate in business continuity during incidents.
* Collaborate closely with Yorkshire Water and other partners to coordinate delivery.
* Support continual professional development (CPD) and share best practice across the wider partner network.
* Travel across Yorkshire for site visits, meetings and collaborative work; overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications
* Relevant technical knowledge and experience in fish passage (fisheries or asset construction/management).
* Experience in fish pass design, hydromorphology, topographical surveying or CDM.
* Project and programme management experience, with ability to identify opportunities and emerging risks.
* Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
* Self‑motivated, organised, computer literate and able to meet tight deadlines.
* Driving licence.
