Brief Description

We're looking to expand our team and have multiple opportunities for Planners to join our teams in Milton Keynes!

Our planners are at the pivotal to our business, ensuring the right person is booked onto the right course at the right location with the correct equipment and course pre-requisites. As a Planner you will be responsible for producing detailed, fully resourced and optimised training delivery plans for our national delivery teams.


About the role (External)

* Contract type:Both permanent and fixed term opportunities (with the potential to become permanent)
* Salary: £33,252 Per annum (Band 5)
* Location: The Quadrant, Milton Keynes (hybrid position, 3 days per week office based as per Network Rail hybrid working policy).
* Closing date: Midnight on Sunday 29th March 2026 - please note this role may close early in the event of a high number of applications.

Full training will be provided but to succeed you will need excellent customer service skills, be driven by continuous improvement and collaboration and have strong attention to detail.

You will provide planning and administration support to produce detailed, fully resourced and optimised training delivery plans.

What does an average day for a Planner look like?

As a Planner, no two days will look the same. Not only are you pivotal to providing training delivery plans to help us achieve our business goals, but you will need to work with our suppliers to ensure all planning administration such as purchase orders are raised, equipment ordered and trainers are available to ensure a seamless and consistent service. As a national team you will be required to work collaboratively and flexibility with your peers and customers actively supporting Key Performance Indicators and increased volumes of demand.

Key responsibilities include:

* Producing robust training plans to meet customer and business objectives.
* Maintaining a healthy balance that maximises trainer and venue utilisation but considers the health and wellbeing of our teams.
* Work with our suppliers to procure training services to meet training demand in line with customer budgets.
* Forecast the cost of training delivery plans and monitor records of expenditure to identify risks and opportunities.
* Support the planning of new events and initiatives.
* Proactively manage short- and long-term plan changes.
* Identify, support and implement improvements to deliver an effective, efficient, customer focussed, flexible and agile planning service.

What are we looking for?

* Excellent attention to detail and quality driven approach to working
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
* Understanding of the competence management system
* Demonstrable experience of logistic planning

For some of our roles all prospective external candidates offered a conditional role will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
