The Quality Control Lead will support the execution of the quality program and its components to ensure compliance with regulatory, GATX, and customer requirements. This position will also support investigations, discussions, and analyses of quality and maintenance-related issues, as well as the implementation of quality improvements at the facility.
Responsibilities / Responsabilités
1. Hold Point Inspections
* Perform after-repair and/or after-finishing hold point inspections
* Document results and ensure defects are addressed
* Lead discussions on communicating findings
* Investigate trends
1. Add-Ons
* Function as a designated add-on approver
2. Auditing
* Assist the quality team with internal audits to confirm compliance with GATX, regulatory, and customer requirements
* Work with applicable individuals to devise and implement corrective actions and follow up to ensure their effectiveness
3. Technical Resource
* Serve as a technical quality resource for GATX personnel throughout the facility
* Apply GATX Quality program requirements to railcar repairs and support the development of others’ quality knowledge
Qualifications / Qualification
Education and/or Experience Required (including certifications):
* Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
* At least three (3) years of relevant work experience
* General Inspector Qualification
* VT certification or the ability to obtain this certification
* Knowledge and experience in applying structured problem-solving practices (e.g., 5 Whys)
* Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with systems such as:
* MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* LCA
* MMS
* Shop Portal
* ECM
* MIS
* SEM
* SharePoint
* Railinc
* ETQ
* Power BI
Other considerations:
This position involves moderate physical activity. Employees are regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, climb, kneel, and crouch during work. Minor travel may be required.
