I’m a 29‑year‑old individual with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair and requires a caregiver/driver to assist with daily care, outings, and transportation.
Shift times
Tuesdays 5 pm–9 pm, Wednesdays 9 am–12/1 pm, Thursdays 5 pm–9 pm, and Fridays 9 am–5 pm, 5 pm–9 pm, and a sleepover shift 9 pm–9 am.
Rates of pay and entitlements
£14.35 per hour for daytime shifts; £11.44 per hour for sleepover shifts.
5.6 weeks of annual leave calculated pro‑rata.
Summary of role
* Activities and social inclusion – clubs, outings, events, and visits with family and friends.
* Supportive care – personal care, eating and drinking assistance, and meal preparation.
* Home activities – reading, art, music, walks, games, creative and reflective practice, and professional/personal development.
* Therapies – physio, hydrotherapy, and speech therapy support.
* Moving and handling – use of a hoist.
* Hygiene – everyday household tasks and equipment cleaning.
* Communication – keeping team notes, attending team meetings, and communicating with family.
* Medication – assisting with medication and liaising with health‑care professionals.
Candidate requirements
* Good standard of education.
* Clean driving licence.
* Reliable, calm, kind, physically fit, and fun.
* Subject to satisfactory PVG checks.
* Probationary period of six months.
* Female‑only position under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equalities Act 2010.
