An Outstanding-rated secondary school in Gloucester is seeking an experienced and committed SENCO to join its senior leadership structure from April. This is a key leadership role within the school, responsible for driving inclusive practice, ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs, and maintaining full compliance with statutory SEND requirements.

The Role
* Leading and developing the school’s SEND provision across KS3 and KS4 (with KS5 where applicable)
* Overseeing the identification, assessment, and monitoring of pupils with additional needs
* Managing EHCP processes, annual reviews, and external agency coordination
* Line managing teaching assistants and SEND support staff
* Working closely with parents, carers, and external professionals
* Ensuring full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding legislation
* Supporting staff through training and development to promote inclusive classroom practice
* Monitoring the impact of interventions and reporting to senior leaders and Governors
* Contributing to whole-school strategic planning as part of the leadership team
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* The National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete)
* Proven experience leading or contributing to SEND provision in a secondary setting
* Strong knowledge of statutory SEND frameworks and compliance requirements
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* The ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on pupil support
* A calm, empathetic, and organised leadership style
