Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teacher to join our team, working with a Year 5/6 class on a part-time basis (2 days per week) from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher with strong Year 6 expertise, particularly in preparing pupils for the transition to secondary school and statutory assessments.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with the KS2 National Curriculum
* Teach a mixed Year 5/6 class, ensuring high expectations for all learners
* Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Year 6 curriculum and SATs preparation
* Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
* Provide targeted support to ensure all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL, make good progress
* Manage classroom behaviour effectively, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and pupil outcomes
* Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Proven experience teaching in Year 6
* Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum and assessment requirements
* Experience of preparing pupils for SATs
* Excellent classroom management skills
* Ability to differentiate learning to meet a range of needs
* Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable Criteria
* Experience teaching in mixed-age classes (Year 5/6)
* Knowledge of intervention strategies to support pupil progress
* Experience working as part of a collaborative teaching team
