Join Our Planning Team as a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and enthusiastic team responsible for managing land and building use and development across a largely urban area surrounded by countryside and Green Belt. A key part of this role is enforcing planning rules, and your contribution will be vital.
Role Responsibilities
1. Investigate complaints and alleged breaches of planning control, including site inspections, visits, observations, and interviews.
2. Advise alleged offenders and complainants on planning and enforcement procedures, including complaint progress, in line with policies and protocols.
3. Supervise and support the Planning Enforcement Officer.
Support and Development
You will be supported by the Planning Manager, with regular 1-to-1 meetings, comprehensive support within a friendly team, and formal training opportunities.
Candidate Profile
We seek someone who is positive, enthusiastic, and skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and communication. The ability to handle emotive situations and adopt a creative, solution-focused approach is essential.
Applicants should have experience dealing with the public in Local Government or similar public organizations, possess a high level of knowledge of Planning legislation and PACE, and be proficient with computer packages. The ability to read plans, meet deadlines, supervise team members, and organize work is required. A recognized UK degree or diploma in Town Planning or a related discipline, or entry-level qualifications with willingness to achieve, is necessary.
